I'm thrilled with my test results, but I feel like I'm starting to sound like a broken record!! Guess that's a good thing!
Tuesday I had a routine MRI and the results were the same as last time - no activity, no growth, just the same last little spot that isn't doing anything but sitting there.
The decreased dosage on my chemo pill doesn't seem to be causing any problems, so I'm still taking the 100 mg Tarceva. Now, if my hair will just start growing along the center of my head!!
I didn't get in trouble with the doctor for losing 2 1/2 pounds - but I did get a dirty look from Bob. I swear I've been eating all kinds of fattening things . . . .
Next test is a PET Scan on September 28.
Thanks for keeping up with me!
This summer we found out that I have cancer. We hope that you'll frequent our blog to find out the "real story" as we make this journey to kick cancer together!

It's Been a Year (in so many ways)
Today marks one year since the day I went to the doctor because of some chest pains and ultimately ended up with a cancer diagnosis. Wow, it's been quite a year for us, our families, friends and co-workers. We appreciate ALL of you and the huge amounts of love, support, encouragement, hugs and prayers you've provided over the past year.
There is a song that has special meaning to me right now - a Rascal Flatts song called "I Won't Let Go". The words to this song are exactly the way Bob has made me feel through this whole cancer ordeal. We have both been through an assortment of feelings and emotions this year - ranging from shock, fear, worry, stress, relief and probably many others I can't think of right now. Even through the stress and worry of it all Bob has been my rock - he is always there for me, encouraging me and keeping me strong. I couldn't ask for a more loving and supportive husband! So many people have commented to me that I'm an inspiration and I've been so strong through this - Bob is a big reason for that! I don't know what I would do without you!!!

Update from May 18
Good news - again!!
I had my routine MRI two days ago, along with labwork and appointments with both docs. Jordan and Heidi were here visiting, so they went along with me this time.
My MRI was great - showed even more improvement. They said the one remaining spot on my brain was barely noticeable!! Woohoo!!! Don't need another MRI for 3 months this time!
I didn't get in too much trouble for losing 4 more pounds, but they did give me another handout with recipes for high calorie foods!
I have a routine PET Scan scheduled for June 24, along with an appointment with Dr. Bova. I'm really hoping this will be the appointment when she decreases the dose on my Tarceva (chemo pill). Fingers crossed . . .
Please continue praying for the many people all over the world dealing with cancer - I feel like I hear about a new case in someone I know (or know of) almost every day.
Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers - blessings to you all!!

Another Round of Tests . . .
Hello All!
It's been awhile since I've posted anything - I guess that's because it's been awhile since anything of significance has happened - medically, that is.
Last Wednesday, March 2, Bob and I headed to OKC for me to have a PET scan, an MRI, lab work and two Dr. appointments. It was a long day but we fit it all in!!!
The radiation oncologist, Dr. Young, told us that the MRI was EVEN BETTER than before! The one last little spot on my brain is even smaller than before!! According to her the radiation should have been done doing it's work quite awhile ago - but, we all know who's doing the real work!!
The oncologist, Dr. Bova, didn't have the results of the PET scan yet, but my lab work was all good. For the first time in my life, I got in trouble for losing too much weight!!! I never thought that would happen. My appetite has been sporadic - nothing sounds good and most of the time when I start eating something it starts to gag me after just a few bites. So, since I can't eat much at a time, I've lost about 22 pounds in the last few months. So, now I'm drinking Ensure shakes and trying to eat more fattening things!! That's quite a switch for me.
On Thursday (the day after all of the appointments) we got the results of the PET scan - same as before - still good!!!
We're heading down to the Checotah/West Eufaula Lake KOA with our fifth wheel for a long weekend of rest and relaxation over Spring Break. We both really need to get away!!!!
Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers! We really appreciate you all!!!

GOOD NEWS . . . . AGAIN!
I had an MRI and an appt. with the radiation oncologist this morning. Amazingly enough the radiation must have continued working some even after the last MRI in November - I only have one spot left!!! Last time there were two and now there is just one (it's the one that was the largest to start with) and it's even smaller than it was in November!
So, once again, prayers continue to be answered! Yippee!!!!!!!!
Thank you SO MUCH to the anonymous person/people who gave us the Christmas card with the very generous VISA gift card in it - that was so thoughtful of you and we really appreciate it!!
